Mr. Brian Tobin is credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Loyola Maramount University in Los Angeles, California after which he spent four years working as an Applied Behavior Analyst with children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder in schools, home settings, and in the community. Brian returned to Chicago and went on to earn his Master of Social Work (MSW) Degree from Loyola University of Chicago.
Brian has completed a variety of placements in his work as a social worker – working in a YMCA Head Start Program in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago assisting families with accessing community services related to parenting skills, legal aid, food pantries, affordable housing and other social services. In another placement, Brian worked as an outpatient clinic associated with St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood where he facilitated groups centered around Masculinity, Wellness and Mindfulness, Depression and Anxiety as well as provided individual therapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.
Brian’s clinical interests include working with individuals and groups on topics related to Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Anger Management, Abandonment, Attachment, Sexual and Physical Trauma, Alcohol and Substance Abuse, Relationship Problems, Parent-Child Problems, and Workplace Performance Problems. In his personal life, Brian has known and felt the devastation, isolation, and stigma of coping with depression and anxiety issues and can attest to the strength and resilience needed to face mental illness head-on and fight day in and day out.
Brian’s therapeutic approach utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) along with influences of Client-Centered Therapy and Humanistic Philosophy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as well as specialized and on-going training in Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
Brian joined Dr. Parisi & Associates, P.C. in 2016 as an outpatient psychotherapist in his Chicago office where he works with children, adolescents, and adults. He was born and raised on the Northside of Chicago and enjoys spending time with his family.
