Ms. Alamma Arackal, MSN, APN comes to Dr. Parisi & Associates, P.C. with an outstanding background in medical education and nursing sciences.  She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (B.S.N.) from the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Center.  She went on to earn two Master’s Degrees – her Master of Science in Nursing Degree (M.S.N.) in Leadership and Management from North Park University and her Master of Science in Nursing Degree (M.S.N.) from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais.  She is currently pursuing her Doctorate Degree in Nurse Practitioner Science (D.N.P.) from Chamberlain University.

Alamma has logged in over thirty years of experience in various areas of nursing including Advance Practice Nursing work as primary care, psychiatric services, geriatric services, palliative and hospice care, and taught as a Nurse Educator.  She has held leadership positions such as Clinical Manager and Assistant Director in primary care, post-operative recovery, neonatal, pediatrics, adult intensive care, medical / surgical care, telemetry, oncology, long-term care, and rehabilitation.  Alamma is currently practicing as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the Division of Internal Medicine, Department of Palliative Care at John Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

Alamma is well-versed in mental health assessment, diagnosing, treating and managing by prescribing and adjusting psychotropic medications having worked with Home Psych Services, P.C. since 2016.  She has established customized management plans in collaboration with clients and their families to achieve their goal(s).  In her role as a psychiatric-focused Advance Practice Nurse, Alamma assesses clients’ level of knowledge, provides education and counseling, and continues to carefully track clients progress.  Alamma’s philosophy of client care is focused on autonomy, empowerment, education, and evidenced-based practice.

Alamma is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), a CPR-trainer, a Non-Violent Crisis Intervention trainer, and has volunteered to judge research projects at the state science fair at the Illinois Junior Academy of Science (IJAS) for three years at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
