Hello!  My name is Crystal Villegas (she/her/hers).  I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Illinois.  I received my Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) from the University of Arizona in 2013 and went on to earn my Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling (M.S.) from Grand Canyon University in 2017.  I began my career in Phoenix, Arizona soon after graduating and took a huge leap of faith in 2020 and moved to the amazing city of Chicago where I have continued my career as a bilingual Spanish-speaking counselor.

I have a background in social work, where I have worked primarily in child protective services, foster care, and adoptions.  I also received my Crisis Intervention and Victimology Certifications in 2013, which allowed me the opportunity to work alongside law enforcement in the victim services department in Tucson, Arizona.  As a counselor, I have experiencing working in outpatient settings, community mental health, juvenile detention centers, and school settings.  I also have extensive experience working with the Latinx communities both in Illinois and Arizona and speak Spanish fluently and intimately understand Latinx cultural issues.  I have worked with clients of all ages, and have treated anxiety, depression, anger issues, life transitions, domestic violence, sexual abuse, childhood trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, disruptive behavior disorders in children and teenagers, relationship issues and grief / bereavement.  Although my preferred counseling approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), my approaches are always tailored to each client’s needs.  I provide teletherapy services for Generations and Home Psych Services using secure video teleconferencing technology for the comfort, convenience, added privacy and safety of my clients.

I practice psychotherapy because I believe that mental health plays a significant role in our daily lives and relationships.  I have a strong desire for helping people become the best version of themselves; and, I believe psychotherapy can be both a healing and empowering experience.

During my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, lounging at home with my pets, traveling, and trying all of the delicious restaurants that Chicago has to offer!
