Hello! My name is Damilola Monehin and I am so grateful that you have found me and would look forward to being of service to you.
Just a little bit about me. I studied Microbiology in Lagos, Nigeria and graduated with my Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) before immigrating to the United States. Here, I completed my Master of Arts Degree (M.A.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. I am currently credentialed in Illinois as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
My varied background in mental health counseling includes work with individuals, couples, and families. I have provided expert services for older children, teenagers and adults and have worked in community mental health as well as non-for-profit healthcare. I believe in tapping into the unique strengths and capabilities of the clients I work with – helping them unlock their own innate potential to overcome the challenges they might be facing. I have a passion for helping others live fulfilled lives. My life experience has taught me that everyone has internal value and a natural desire to contribute it to humanity. I enjoy helping my clients gain self-awareness, understanding, and gaining a “big picture” viewpoint of their presenting problems to make the most healthy and holistic decisions for themselves and their lives.
My areas of expertise include working with family problems, multicultural issues, immigration and life transition problems, anxiety, stress, depression, women’s issues, trauma and domestic violence, infertility, grief and loss, pre- and post-marital conflict, communication problems, dual diagnosis, addiction, and adults with personality disorders and severe mental illness. I also have a strong background in ministry and pastoral counseling and feel comfortable integrating issues of spirituality and faith into the counseling process as my clients request this type of intervention. My preferred counseling approach combines elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Pastoral Counseling, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I provide teletherapy services for Generations and Home Psych Services using secure video teleconferencing technology for the comfort, convenience, added privacy and safety of my clients.
I reside in the South Suburbs of Chicago. I enjoy travel, watching medical dramas, listening to music from the 90’s and early 2000’s, and spending time with my family. I look forward to helping you on your path toward wellness and recovery!
