Dr. Donita Lester is licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Illinois. She completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) in Applied Behavioral Science from National Louis University in 2002 and went on to earn her Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Counseling and Human Services from National Louis University in 2004. Donita completed her Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Pastoral Community Counseling from Argosy University in 2017.
Donita’s work experience is broad-based where she has worked in hospital, university, correctional, and private-practice settings. Donita has run intensive treatment programs with both men and women in correctional settings. She worked in private practice in Chicago serving a varied clientele providing individual and couples counseling with specialization in depression, anxiety, executive coaching, trauma-related issues, stress management, grief and loss, family conflict, and faith-based counseling. Donita also has extensive experience working with addictions and in crisis stabilization and has worked in academia and teaching as an Adjunct Professor with Ivy Tech Community College in Chicago, Trinity Christian College, and Colorado Christian University teaching courses in Human Services, Ethics, Interviewing Skills, Juvenile Delinquency, Empathy Training, Counseling Skills, and Theology.
Donita uses a flexible and multi-faceted approach in working with clients. As a therapist, she believes in tailoring her therapeutic approach to the needs of her clients. She is comfortable integrating a multi-cultural approach into her counseling style and has a strong foundation in offering faith-based counseling to a varied clientele. Her goal is to create a therapeutic environment where her clients get the help and support needed to achieve their goals.
Donita resides in Chicago and specializes in providing telehealth services. She joined the Home Psych Services, P.C. team in 2021.
