Hello there.  It is a pleasure to meet you and tell you a bit about myself.  My name is Elizabeth Martinez.  I am licensed as a Social Worker (LSW) in the State of Illinois.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honors (B.A.) in Applied Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014 and went on to earn my Master of Social Work Degree (M.S.W.) from Loyola University of Chicago in 2018.  I am proud to hold several prestigious certifications including in Domestic Violence Counseling, Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Counseling, Alcohol and Drug Counseling (CADC), and in Screening and Triage.

I have worked in a variety of capacities over the years including my most recent work as an Ambulatory Social Worker in a hospital setting.  My past experience includes work as an addictions specialist, case manager serving Chicago’s immigrant and refugee communities, community mental health counselor, youth services advocate, crisis hotline worker, and volunteer within the Latino community specifically focused on domestic violence.  I have treated adolescents, adults, families, and couples and have worked with anger management, support with managing chronic medical conditions, life transitions, domestic violence, paraphilias, substance use disorders, childhood trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety and grief / bereavement.

I use a strength-based approach in helping my clients where I try to cultivate optimism, hope, and realistic goal-setting.  My treatment is informed by a multicultural perspective that displays sensitivity toward my clients’ life experiences, but also ground my treatment in evidence-based practice to ensure proper care.  My theoretical orientation borrows from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.

I reside in the suburbs of Chicago. I provide teletherapy services for Generations and Home Psych Services using secure video teleconferencing technology for the comfort, convenience, added privacy and safety of my clients.
