Hello, I am excited to introduce myself.  My name is Lissett Casillas.  I am a Bilingual (Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) in the State of Illinois. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) from DePaul University in Chicago, and went on to earn my Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in Rehabilitation Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University in August 2019.

My professional experience includes working with adolescents and adults at substance abuse treatment centers, serving as a transition and vocational counselor in school settings, and advocating for children and families at a the Family Advocacy Center.  My desire is to create a safe and emotionally supportive environment where my clients can identify, and process their stressors, and feel supported in their healing journey.

As a first-generation Latina, having lived between Mexico and the U.S., I understand some of the complexities and barriers of living between two cultures, and the obstacles many individuals of marginalized groups face in our society. I consider myself informed on systemic oppression, multicultural perspectives, social justice issues, racial and ethnic diversity, and an ally to LGBTQ+ communities.

Understanding the complexity and uniqueness of each individual experience, I utilize an integrative approach with various therapeutic modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed care, and Mindfulness Therapy.  I treat a wide array of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, OCD, behavioral concerns in teenagers, adjustment issues, grief counseling, relationship / marital trouble, and LGBTQ+ issues.  Some of my areas of specialization and particular interest include working with substance use disorders, process addictions, co-occurring disorders, generational trauma, immigration and acculturation issues, family problems, life transitions, anger management, religious/spiritual struggles, disabilities, and vocational rehabilitation.

I provide teletherapy services for Generations Behavioral Healthcare, P.C. and Home Psych Services, P.C. using secure video teleconferencing technology for the comfort, convenience, added privacy and safety of my clients.  When not working, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family-kids and pets, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors.

I am delighted that you found me on the internet and took the time to read up about me.  I look forward to being of service to you.
